Chapter 31: Comet's Name

MIDNIGHT

Orders... Like how Shadow seem to be manipulating her father. Midnight bade the young wolf good night as she began to walk off, following instincts to where a glistening lake was. There, she laid down and looked at her reflection. For once, she began to think about the Nyx Pack.
Her father, sick and old, somewhere out there, with the dangerous Shadow, along side the few wolf generals and Wisp. She sighed.
Was she never going to meet them again?
There was a splash of water. A head bobbed in the water. It was Comet's. "Comet," protested Midnight, though it has been a while since they last met.
The artic wolf smiled, wrinkles forming around his aquamarine eyes. "Midnight," he said, "my name isn't actually Comet. My name is Omicron, I'm Lambda's cousin."
Midnight looked surprised. "You don't look anything alike!"
"Not after our reformation," sighed Omicron, his fur shimmering in the light.
Midnight frowned. "You're the prince of magic, right?"
"Yeah, I took that title up a while back when I went to look for glory outside the woods. Dragons found me, taught me, and I was the one who invited them into the forest."
    "You!"
"I sometimes regret about bringing them in, for they ruined my house and caused me to be exiled for some time. You see, when I was the descendant of the prince of magic, my sole existence in one place depends on magic, like the King of Magic's."
Midnight frowned. More information to take in, it seems. The confusing ones.
"However! I was banished a little after the war, before the war against Beta. Since the fight against Beta was outside of the woods, I joined in, and I was a great help."
Midnight tried to wrap everything in her head.
"Midnight, see, look at me, among the other Silver Woods Guardians, who possess the most magic? I do, Midnight, because I do not depend on my birthplace only, but also of my outer world," Omicron said.
"Why are you telling me this?" inquired Midnight.
Omicron placed his back against the surface of the water, drifting further away towards the waterfall, his fur of purple, blue and white reflective in the water, the crystal bracelet around his bushy tail glinted in the light. "Ahh, it great to have nothing to do, eh?" he teased, then he looked at Midnight. "Midnight, I know you're involved about Beta. I warn you: be careful, he is one dangerous and manipulative creature."
    "Beta... Rune?" asked Midnight.
"Shadow, Beta, Rune," verified Omicron, reciting the three names of the villain.
    "What-"
    Omicron disappeared in a flash.

Author's note: I now dub thee Omicron.
Ahh, aren't these chapters getting shorter and shorter?

Chapter 30: Two Dogs and a Path

DUSK

    Bark! Bark!
There was a distant sound of playful barks as Dusk moved closer towards the farm. It was night by now, and Dusk peered through the gaps of the green stalks. There was barely anything to keep her cover.
She spotted a pair of dogs, one a Dalmatian, the other a German Shepherd. They were playing around. "Hush! Keep it down!" a voice cried.
From what Dusk could tell, it was a human's voice. She cowered and tried to sink down.
"He's always mad at us," one of the dogs whimpered.
Dusk then spotted them running towards her. Dusk gulped. If she turned away and ran, the human might see her as well as the dogs would. If she stay put, the dogs might alert the man, but she could reason with them.
"Ay!" the dalmation yipped in excitement. "Kelly!"
The German Shepherd bounded forwards. "Why! Spot! It's another wolf!"
    Another wolf.
"H-hello!" Dusk stuttered, "I got a little lost, and I need directions."
The dalmatian jumped. "Just be quiet and we can show the way out," he said.
    "Still, where exactly?" asked Kelly.
Dusk frowned. "I need to go to the Silver Woods," Dusk replied, and there's only one way.
"Silver Woods? Never heard," Kelly replied, puzzled.
"Oh stars..." Dusk said. She shook her head. She was lost.
Spot brighten up. "However! I do know how to get to a certain place. It's a sort of ruins, and... Hello?"
Dusk was looking around. "I need to go the opposite way. It's where my former base is. I need to check on something."
"Rea-lly?" teased Kelly. "You look lost."
Grumbling, Dusk said, "Nay, I need to find the lost pup that has been left behind."
"You're awfully loyal," Spot said. "OK, keep it down and let's get move on. Mr. McWalesky might be listening for foreign noises, and scents. He has an amazing sense of smell for a human."
Gulping, Dusk followed Spot and Kelly as the two playfully bounded off. "We'll bring you to where we saw a wolf last time," Kelly explained, "maybe you can follow her scent."
    "Who?" Dusk cried.
"Can't remember, she was a black wolf though," said Kelly.
Midnight-! It could have been anyone.
"Do you know her?" asked Spot suddenly.
Dusk shrugged. "Too general, can't say yes or no," she replied.
    The dogs nodded.
Before Dusk realised, they reached the area which Kelly had spoken off. Without thinking, Dusk bent down and sniffed at the earth. Midnight's scent was faint, but it was there. She turned around, hoping for direction.
    She found it.
"Thank you," she said, and sped away into he night.

Author's Note: I'm sorry I didn't post last week! I got invaded by tests! Anyway, I updated Chapter 28 due to some mistakes. So, yeah, enjoy. Sorry it's lame.

Chapter 29: Gamma

MIDNIGHT

Midnight hissed as she rolled across the ground. A puppy was licking her. "Knock it off!" cried Midnight, pushing the pup off.
"Gamma!" protested a voice. They looked up and saw Theta, pinning Gamma in place by stepping on his short tail.
"Hey, you were the one who asked me to become a puppy!" objected Gamma.
"Change back," said Theta sternly, and, in a burst of light, Theta was now stepping on a long bushy tail of brown and black.
"Whoa," said Blaze. He never got tired seeing transformations, while Midnight had enough. Pi's magic class had been help, though.
"I thought you knew to turn into the greyhound, not the chihuahua puppy!" retorted Theta.
"Sis!" cried Blaze and strode towards the wolf, smiling at her. Gamma hissed.
"So, this is Gamma, the once-lost guy," said Theta.
"H-hey! I was chasing predators!" growled Gamma in response.
Theta's voice softened. "Gamma, you know you shouldn't have left your post..."
"I know... but those shadow-demons were taunting me," Gamma scowled.
"We all know that well," said a voice. Midnight looked up and saw Lambda approaching them. "Gamma, you know better than to fall for such traps. Where's Iota? She was supposed to switch places with you. I haven't seen her in days either."
"Alpha is taking care of my part," Gamma whimpered, intimidated by Lambda. However, after hearing Pi's story, Midnight wondered why would Lambda remain as a wolf if he was so powerful.
"As for Alpha's part?" growled Lambda.
Gamma was silent and Theta said, "Delta."
Lambda was silent. "Gamma, rest and then we need to talk before your shift," he finally said. "Theta, find Iota."
"Aye," said the she-wolf and quickly ran off into the woods. Midnight and Blaze was disappointed. They didn't get any time to talk with Theta.
"Gamma, I expect you to be on the North Hill in two hours," said Lambda sternly and left.
    "Geez, he's scary," whimpered Blaze.
    Gamma sighed. "I know right?"
Midnight frowned. "Hey, it was you who grabbed his attention of anger," she  reminded.
Gamma shrugged. "Yeah, I did," he said, his grey eyes shining with the silvery light of the forest.
"So, why did you abandon post?" asked Midnight.
Gamma cocked his head. "Well, let me tell you about it. Lately, there has been many angers by the borders of the woods. Fortunately, only those of benevolence can break through a certain aura-bubble that made this place a haven, so they can't pass, but they believe then can, and has been struggling to get in for as long as a month."
"I didn't see them when I entered," scoffed Midnight.
"They're usually where the forests are less dense, a little by the edge of Lambda's territory," Gamma replied.
    Blaze looked interested.
"Shadow-demons always taunted us to have only regained form as a wolf. However, we have little magic in us, however weak. Whatever they told you, we all can shapeshift whenever, from any form, but we cannot remain full-time as it, unlike Pi and Epsilon," said Gamma. "Shadow-demons were path deaths, formed together to serve themselves for their purpose, but lately, it seems like they're taking orders."
    "Orders?"
Gamma cleared his throat. "I believe Beta is still alive, planning, er, no, plotting his revenge on us. He has risen once more... I tried to grab answers out of them, but they surprised me. I retreated, and, apparently, left my post and the battled dragged on for a long time I didn't notice, and taken me far away from my area."
"Still, um, Mr. Gamma, can the barrier be broken?" asked Blaze.
Gamma frowned. "For that answer, you need to inquire Lambda. I need to meet Lambda soon, the sun is starting to venture downwards, I must leave."
With that, the wolf turned and left Midnight and Blaze, both bubbling with curiosity.

Author's Note: Guys, I seriously forgot yesterday was a Sunday, aaah. So, I'm running low in ideas and comments to eat. Happy Chinese New Year!
