Bark! Bark!
There was a distant sound of playful barks as Dusk moved closer towards the farm. It was night by now, and Dusk peered through the gaps of the green stalks. There was barely anything to keep her cover.
She spotted a pair of dogs, one a Dalmatian, the other a German Shepherd. They were playing around. "Hush! Keep it down!" a voice cried.
From what Dusk could tell, it was a human's voice. She cowered and tried to sink down.
"He's always mad at us," one of the dogs whimpered.
Dusk then spotted them running towards her. Dusk gulped. If she turned away and ran, the human might see her as well as the dogs would. If she stay put, the dogs might alert the man, but she could reason with them.
"Ay!" the dalmation yipped in excitement. "Kelly!"
The German Shepherd bounded forwards. "Why! Spot! It's another wolf!"
Another wolf.
"H-hello!" Dusk stuttered, "I got a little lost, and I need directions."
The dalmatian jumped. "Just be quiet and we can show the way out," he said.
"Still, where exactly?" asked Kelly.
Dusk frowned. "I need to go to the Silver Woods," Dusk replied, and there's only one way.
"Silver Woods? Never heard," Kelly replied, puzzled.
"Oh stars..." Dusk said. She shook her head. She was lost.
Spot brighten up. "However! I do know how to get to a certain place. It's a sort of ruins, and... Hello?"
Dusk was looking around. "I need to go the opposite way. It's where my former base is. I need to check on something."
"Rea-lly?" teased Kelly. "You look lost."
Grumbling, Dusk said, "Nay, I need to find the lost pup that has been left behind."
"You're awfully loyal," Spot said. "OK, keep it down and let's get move on. Mr. McWalesky might be listening for foreign noises, and scents. He has an amazing sense of smell for a human."
Gulping, Dusk followed Spot and Kelly as the two playfully bounded off. "We'll bring you to where we saw a wolf last time," Kelly explained, "maybe you can follow her scent."
"Who?" Dusk cried.
"Can't remember, she was a black wolf though," said Kelly.
Midnight-! It could have been anyone.
"Do you know her?" asked Spot suddenly.
Dusk shrugged. "Too general, can't say yes or no," she replied.
The dogs nodded.
Before Dusk realised, they reached the area which Kelly had spoken off. Without thinking, Dusk bent down and sniffed at the earth. Midnight's scent was faint, but it was there. She turned around, hoping for direction.
She found it.
"Thank you," she said, and sped away into he night.
